Are You Under-Performing in Competition?

If you perform well in practice but struggle when it counts, your mental game is likely holding you back. Do any of these sound familiar?
“I lose confidence as soon as I step into competition.”
“I feel tight, cautious, or like I’m trying too hard not to make mistakes.”
“No matter how hard I practice, I can’t replicate my training results in competition.”
“I’m so frustrated with my inconsistency that I feel like giving up.”
If these statements resonate, one-on-one mental performance services can help you break through.

Virtual Sessions (Nationwide)

Work from anywhere via secure Telehealth Platform accessible on your phone or laptop. Virtual coaching saves time, eliminates travel, and maintains continuity during competition travel or off time.
What is the cost of one-on-one individual sessions?

Individual sessions are $185 per session (50 minutes), and include all one-on-one services such as performance improvement, competition preparation, injury recovery support, and mental health concerns. Initial assessment sessions are also 50 minutes at the same rate. Payment is due at the time of service. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy, and all services are provided on a private pay basis.

Most athletes see meaningful progress within 6-12 sessions, with ongoing support sessions scheduled around major competitions or season transitions.

No! I work with athletes in both individual and team sports. One-on-one sessions focus on YOUR mental game, regardless of sport type.

Yes. Virtual coaching via secure telehealth platform is equally effective and allows continuity during travel, competition weeks, and off periods.

Yes. Programs can be adapted for adolescents; parent participation is highly recommended to support goal completion and effective strategies development at home.

With your consent, I’m happy to coordinate with coaches to ensure mental skills and routines integrate seamlessly into training and competition plans.

That’s why I offer a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your goals, challenges, and determine if private coaching is the best fit.

Yes. Multi-session packages (3-month and 6-month programs) offer reduced per-session rates. Contact us to discuss options.

Clinical counseling involves the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders; services can be billed to insurance. Mental performance coaching focuses on skill development for competitive performance without clinical diagnosis or treatment, and is private pay only. During your consultation, we’ll determine which approach best fits your needs or whether a combination of both would be most beneficial.

Yes, I accept insurance for clinical mental health counseling services for Oregon residents. I am in-network with Care Oregon, Health Share of Oregon, Jackson Care Connect, Columbia Pacific CCO, Providence, and Aetna. I also provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. Mental performance coaching services are not insurance-billable and are private pay only.

Absolutely. Many athletes benefit from addressing clinical mental health concerns through counseling while simultaneously building performance skills through coaching. We can structure sessions to incorporate both approaches as appropriate for Oregon residents.

Yes! If you live outside Oregon, I can provide mental performance services via telehealth. Mental performance work focuses on skill-building for confidence, focus, pre-competition routines, and mental toughness without clinical diagnosis or therapy. However, I cannot provide clinical mental health counseling to clients outside of Oregon.

During our initial consultation, I’ll conduct a brief assessment to understand your challenges, symptoms, and goals. If you’re experiencing clinical mental health symptoms that impact overall functioning, I’ll recommend counseling. If your challenges are primarily performance-related and your mental health is generally stable, coaching may be more appropriate.

We can transition between services as your needs change. If clinical concerns emerge during coaching and you’re an Oregon resident, we’ll discuss transitioning to counseling or adding counseling sessions. Conversely, if you start with counseling and symptoms improve, we can shift focus to performance coaching.

For clinical counseling clients, we establish a crisis safety plan during initial sessions. If you’re experiencing a mental health emergency, call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), go to your nearest emergency room, or call 911. For urgent but non-emergency concerns, you can contact me and I’ll respond as quickly as possible.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in sport psychology, I offer two distinct types of services – and many athletes benefit from both.

IMPORTANT DISTINCTION:

Our one-on-one sessions focus on mental performance coaching and skills training – not clinical therapy or mental health treatment.

We help athletes:

  • Build confidence, focus, and mental toughness;
  • Develop competition routines and pressure management strategies;
  • Overcome performance anxiety and mental blocks;
  • Maximize consistency and performance under pressure.

If clinical mental health concerns arise (depression, eating disorders, trauma), for out-of-state clients we can coordinate with or refer to licensed mental health professionals in your area as needed.

Our team is experienced in determining clinical needs.
